For Parents: what is Gishy Goo?

Gishy Goo helps your children get more comfortable in their braces. It is a specially formulated material they can place over their wires and brackets to keep their lips and cheeks from getting irritated.

Gishy Goo is made of a poly-vinyl-siloxane (PVS) elastomer that has been used for decades by dentists to take impressions of teeth. PVS is firm enough to hold its shape for days but soft enough to allow for tooth movement, making it the perfect tool for covering braces and protecting soft mouth tissues.

How does my child use Gishy Goo?

Gishy Goo is easy to use. It’s dispensed in a double-barreled syringe that has two parts: a catalyst and a base. The catalyst is bright white and the base is colored.

Squeeze a small amount from each tube and mix them together for 10 seconds using the thumb and forefinger. This activates the chemical reaction that makes Gishy Goo work. Mold Gishy Goo over the wires or brackets that are causing irritation. Gishy Goo will set in about 2 minutes. It can be worn for up to 12 hours—day or night.

Is Gishy Goo safe?

Yes. Gishy Goo is completely safe. It is BPA free and, if accidentally swallowed, it will pass through the digestive system completely unnoticed.

Is Gishy Goo BPA free?

BPA, short for bisphenol A, is a chemical found in some plastic materials such as water bottles and even dental products. A lot of attention has been given to BPA by the media lately because of studies showing its possible harmful side effects. You can rest assured that Gishy Goo iscompletely BPA free.

Is Gishy Goo Different than wax?

Yes, Gishy Goo is different than wax. Although they were created to achieve the same goal, Gishy Goo is much easier to place on braces and it stays in place for a significantly longer amount of time too. We believe this is what makes Gishy Goo the superior product.
